New Year’s resolutions are the pits. We’ve all read the statistics about gym membership and attendance spiking during the first two or three weeks of any new year and then plummeting thereafter. We know that any resolution that declares we will do a certain thing (or not do a certain thing) EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of the year are doomed to failure because we’re, well, human.

As coaches, we believe in having fun, surrounding yourself with support and good energy, and having a full tank to draw from when you’re creating your best work. That’s why Thrive PhD is NOT suggesting you make a resolution in 2018 to drastically alter the way you work or play. Instead, we’re offering you a 4-day Support the Stretch challenge that gives you the opportunity to identify an area of your life where setting some audacious goals—and reaching them with support—could have a major impact!

When you sign up for the Support the Stretch challenge, you receive a copy of our academic Wheel of Life worksheet. This is a simple and slick self-assessment tool that invites you to look at eight key areas of your life as an academic and evaluate YOUR satisfaction with them on a 1-10 scale. Identifying the specific areas where you are feeling stuck and dissatisfied, as well as those areas of life where you have wind in your sails, so to speak, can help you focus on meaningful goals.

Over the course of the four-day challenge, January 2-5, 2018, we will go through the process of creating goals that stretch, but don’t overwhelm, you. These aren’t New Year’s resolution crazy - they are your very own S.M.A.R.T. goals that you can reach with proper set-up, planning, and support. Focusing on specific, measurable goals that move you one step forward in your larger plan is the key to success and satisfaction in 2018.

Our four-day challenge ends on January 5, 2018 with a live webinar with coaches Jennifer and Katy. We’ll talk about our best practices for sustainable work toward goals and the amazing support and accountability system we’re building with Thrive PhD. And we’ll answer your questions about thriving in grad school and setting up systems that work for you.

What an amazing way to start 2018! Spend some time with yourself and your goals and dreams and discover a supportive, creative community to help you reach them! We look forward to meeting you! Sign up here!
